Football Federation Australia (FFA) met with Newcastle Jets owner Nathan Tinkler today and handed him a formal notice in relation to the Hyundai A-League club’s financial state.
Last month, head of the Hyundai A-League Damien de Bohun said there were “serious” concerns about the Jets’ off-field structure and stressed the importance of Tinkler running the club in a professional manner.
An FFA spokesman said today’s meeting centred on the financial situation of the Hunter club.
“FFA today held another round of talks with Nathan Tinkler and received assurances about his intention to recapitalise the Newcastle Jets and comprehensively address urgent issues in the club’s operation,” said an FFA spokesman.
“FFA advised the Jets that it has decided to give the club a formal notice in relation to its financial state. The Jets will be given a short period to respond to the formal notice.”
It’s understood this period is around a week.
The Jets play Brisbane Roar FC this Friday night at Hunter Stadium.
