FFA issue Melbourne Victory show cause letter

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today issued a show cause notice to Melbourne Victory under the National Code of Conduct following an alleged incident at Saturday night’s Hyundai A-League match at Etihad Stadium.

FFA has given the club until 2pm (AEDT) Tuesday afternoon to show cause why they should not face sanction for bringing the game into disrepute after a spectator in the Melbourne Victory active supporters area discharged a flare. Possible sanctions may include financial penalties, a reprimand, the triggering of the Club’s current applicable suspended points deduction (3 points) and/or an extension to the Club’s current suspended points deduction under the FFA Code of Conduct.

FFA sent the show cause notice today after receiving detailed incident and match reports, outlining the incident.

The perpetrator, who was removed from the stadium following assistance from the Melbourne Victory fans and CCTV, will be subject to the FFA Banning Process.
