Football Federation Australia CEO Ben Buckley today congratulated Brisbane Roar on their record breaking 36 match unbeaten run following a dominant 4-nil win against Perth Glory in Brisbane last night.
Brisbane Roar have now gone 36 matches unbeaten, a stretch that includes 23 wins and 13 draws, overtaking the 74 year old Eastern Suburbs Rugby League record of 35 matches unbeaten.
“This is a remarkable sporting achievement by any standards and will firmly place Brisbane Roar in the record books for a long time to come,” said FFA CEO Ben Buckley.
“Brisbane Roar have raised the bar for the Hyundai A-League with their high paced, attacking football and this is exciting for both fans and neutrals.
“It has been a remarkable turnaround for the club with Ange Postecoglou at the helm – they-ve not only gone through a period of transition with their squad and club culture but also their ownership.
“When you consider the salary cap conditions that we have in place this truly is an outstanding achievement in modern sport.
“Just how long they can go on for will now be eagerly watched by a fast growing number of fans and interested spectators alike and bodes well for the confidence of the squad as they head towards their first venture into the AFC Champions League.”
Brisbane Roar will attempt to continue their record run next weekend in Kogarah when they face Sydney FC at WIN Jubilee Oval on Sunday, 4 December.
