Scout Round 25

Hyundai A-League Round 24 standout performers

Star Man – Eugene Galekovic ($249,000)
Goalkeepers are often the forgotten men of fantasy teams but Galekovic almost single-handedly won the game for the Reds last weekend against Sydney FC. The Socceroo shot-stopper produced a string of fine saves to maintain a clean sheet and also remarkably produced the crucial assist for Awer Mabil to slot the winner.

Dud of the week – Marc Janko ($703,000)
It’s hard to criticise the competition’s leading goal-scorer but the $703,000 Austrian failed to deliver in round 24. The striker failed to impose himself against the Reds and will have his work cut-out against the physical Glory defenders this weekend.

Coach Killer – Mitch Cooper ($113,000)
The highly-rated youngster had a glorious chance to net a crucial equaliser for the Jets against the Glory last weekend but horribly miscued a free header from point blank range. The Jets have a league-low 18 goals for the season and Cooper has failed to net a goal in his 13 matches.

Value Pick – Awer Mabil ($183,000)
The youngster netted the crucial winner for the Reds against Sydney FC and is poised to see plenty of game time as he returns to full fitness. Super value at $183,000.

Pick of the week – Steve Lustica ($329,000)
The Roar midfielder netted a sublime hat-trick against the Mariners last weekend and is growing in confidence in the centre of the park. With the Roar pushing hard for a spot in the six, expect Lustica to rack up the points in the final three rounds.
