Fan favourite Kelava and Victory part ways

Melbourne Victory have confirmed popular Croatian goalkeeper Ivan Kelava will leave the Isuzu UTE A-League club.

Kelava became a fan favourite in his one and only season with Victory, who reached the A-League Men semi-finals in 2021-22 after finishing bottom of the table the campaign prior.

The 34-year-old made 29 appearances and kept eight clean sheets as Victory boasted the best defensive record in the ALM – 25 goals conceded.

Former Dinamo Zagreb keeper Kelava, who followed Tony Popovic to Melbourne from Greek outfit Xanthi, also helped Victory claim the Australia Cup title last season.

“The club would like to thank Ivan for his contribution and wish him and his family the best for the future,” Victory said.

Popovic has been busy reshaping his squad with the signings of Tomi Juric, George Timotheou, Noah Smith, Eli Adams and Ahmad Taleb, while Leigh Broxham, Matthew Spiranovic, Jason Geria, Rai Marchan and Will Wilson have re-signed.
