Fan favourite Hingert re-signs with resurgent Roar

Jack Hingert will play more than a decade with Brisbane Roar after signing a new deal with the club on Thursday.

Hingert, who has played 160 times for Roar, inked a new long-term deal that will keep him in Orange until the end of the 2020/21 Season.

The new deal is a wonderful reward for the all-action right-back, who has forced his way back this season after a serious knee injury in the 2018/19 campaign.

“I’ve been here for nine years, I’ve been through the good times and some difficult periods too and I’m really happy to be here for a few more years,” Hingert said on Roar’s official website.

“The club means a lot to me, it’s close to my heart and I can’t wait to continue working hard and hopefully bringing some more success to the club.

“I’ve seen how good it is when you have that success and knowing what that feeling is like makes you hungrier.

“I’ll be giving my all to get that feeling back here in Brisbane.”

London-born Hingert joined Roar in 2011 and has gone on to develop into one of the competition’s most consistent defenders.

The 29-year-old was a part of the Championship-winning sides in 2011/12 and 2013/14 and is now a leader in the Roar squad, skippering the team against Wellington Phoenix in the absence of Tom Aldred.

“The club and the fans hold a place in my heart. I love the club as much as anyone else,” Hingert admitted.

“I’d like to thank the fans who have supported me over the journey here, especially through my rehab.

“I had a lot of messages of support and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my family, my teammates, the club and our fans.”

Hingert’s re-signing caps an excellent period for Robbie Fowler’s side, who sit on the cusp of the top six on the back of a four-game unbeaten run.

They will aim to make that five when they travel to Gosford to play Central Coast Mariners on Saturday, kicking off at 5pm AEDT.
