Ferreira among three Perth Glory departures

Perth Glory have released Fabio Ferreira and farewelled Bundesliga-bound Jacob Italiano among three departures at the end of a memorable Hyundai A-League campaign.

Ferreira, a former Adelaide United and Central Coast Mariners winger, has been released after one season at HBF Park.

The Portuguese speedster made 13 appearances and scored two goals as Perth lifted the Premiers Plate but did not feature in the squad that lost on penalties to Sydney FC in the Grand Final.

Young defender Walter Scott, who was unable to add to the two appearances he made last term, has also been let go.

Meanwhile, talented teenager Italiano is on the way out of Perth to complete his move to Borussia Monchengladbach.

The attacking midfielder will officially take up the deal he signed in December 2017 when he turns 18 in July.

Glory football director Jacob Burns said: “We would like to thank Fabio and Walter for the dedication they showed and the contribution they made to what was a fantastic season for the club.

“We wish them every success in their future endeavours.

“In terms of Jacob, we also wish him well as he takes up an exciting new opportunity in Germany.

“He has a very bright future ahead of him and we look forward to seeing him continue the development that he has shown, initially through the academy and subsequently the first team here at Perth Glory.”

Glory confirmed further player announcements are expected in the near future.
