Scott Jamieson has started his IFK Gothenburg career in impressive fashion, completing a full shift in a 1-0 Europa League win over Qarabag.
Jamieson was thrilled with IFK’s performance in the first leg of their play-off for a spot in the Europa League group stage on Thursday, with Mads Albaek’s 56th-minute goal handing the Swedish club victory at home.
Having joined IFK last week from Western Sydney Wanderers, Jamieson was named in Jorgen Lennartsson’s starting line-up for the vital continental match and impressed against Qarabag’s Brazilian striker Reynaldo on a number of occasions, while also looking to get forward from left-back.
Speaking to IFK’s website after the match, Jamieson said: “The entire team put in a great effort but we’re not there yet.
“Now we have to let go of this and focus Hammarby in the league on Sunday.”
IFK will face Qarabag in the play-off second leg in Azerbaijan on August 25.
