Former Brisbane Roar striker Jamie Maclaren was one of two German-based Caltex Socceroos to find the net in pre-season friendlies in Europe overnight.
Maclaren, who shared the Hyundai A-League golden boot with Melbourne Victory’s Besart Berisha last season, was on target for his new 2.Bundesliga side Darmstadt 98.
Darmstadt were involved in two matches over a busy weekend, defeating SV Wallern 4-3, while also accounting for Turkish club Rizespor 2-1.
Meanwhile, fellow Caltex Socceroo and former Adelaide United winger Mathew Leckie scored his first goal for new club Hertha Berlin in a 2-0 win over FC Carl Zeiss Jena.
It took just 30 minutes for Leckie to open his account for the Bundesliga outfit, rounding off a move which involved some good play from Julius Kade and Maurice Covic.
