Ex-City skipper to link with New York City FC

Former Melbourne City captain Patrick Kisnorbo will spend time at New York City FC’s training centre at SUNY Purchase to continue his coaching development.

Kisnorbo, who made 76 appearances for City, arrived in New York last weekend for a three week tour in the US.

The trip will encompass visits to NYCFC and Seattle Reign, where Kisnorbo’s Westfield W-League coaching partner Jess Fishlock is currently playing in the National Women’s Soccer League.

Kisnorbo will meet and spend time with NYCFC head coach Patrick Vieira, individual coaching staff and Sporting Director Claudio Reyna.

He will also rendezvous with his former teammate, David Villla, who played four matches for City alongside Kisnorbo back in 2014, with the pair still maintaining regular contact.

The former Hyundai A-League defender will watch NYCFC’s away fixture against Philadelphia Union on April 14, before travelling to Seattle to link with Fishlock and watch Reign’s fixture against Sky Blue FC.

Fishlock plays alongside City women’s players Lauren Barnes, Larissa Crummer, Rebekah Stott and Beverly Yanez at Reign, all of whom worked with Kisnorbo during the 2016/17 triumph as assistant coach for the W-League team.

Kisnorbo will also attend Reign’s home match against Houston Dash, before returning to Melbourne to recommence his duties within the club’s youth system.
