New Hyundai A-League kits for 2019/20: every club’s released shirt

We’re counting down the days until the new Hyundai A-League season, which means clubs are beginning to unveil their new playing kits.

And we’re slowly discovering the new strips for all 11 Hyundai A-League sides, including competition newcomers Western United.

There’s always plenty of buzz around the kits for every club and we’ll keep you updated with the playing strips for all 11 clubs as soon as they are released.

Wellington Phoenix

Phoenix unveiled their new look for the 2019/20 Season on Wednesday, 25 September.

Partnering up with Paladin Sports, the Kiwi club have formed a brand new design for the new season, incorporating the modern faded stripes through the shirt complemented by the traditional features of a Phoenix shirt. 

The famous black and yellow colours remain alongside E Rere Te Keo, recognising Wellington as the home “the resounding call” of the Wellington harbour taniwha Ngake, urging the team to strive to work even harder heading into the new season.

Central Coast Mariners

The Mariners announced their new playing strip on September 20: a throwback to the early days, with the Mariners traditional yellow serving as the base of the jersey.

Four palm trees and the words ‘The Community Club’ adorn the back just below the collar, a nod to the Mariners’ presence on the Central Coast and the role the club plays locally.

With the Masterfoods logo once more on the front of the jersey, it is assured the famous sauce bottles will be on display during the 2019/20 season at Central Coast Stadium.

Adelaide United

The Reds revealed their new home look for the 2019/20 campaign on Tuesday, September 10, a week before they were set to wear it for the first time in the club’s FFA Cup 2019 Quarter Final.

In a modern twist on the club’s predominantly red strip, there is also splashes of the South Australian state colours of navy and yellow also.

The kit, which was manufactured by the Reds’ on-field partner Macron, also features an embossed horizontal diamond pattern on the front of the shirt.

A crew neck replaces a collar which is accentuated by navy and yellow trimming, as too are the outline of the sleeves, complementing the overall design.

The shorts of the new strip are also predominantly red with blue trimming, while the socks are also red with thin, vertical yellow and blue stripes.

Brisbane Roar FC

Brisbane Roar officially launched its 2019/20 Umbro kits for the upcoming Hyundai A-League & Westfield W-League seasons at the Club’s City of Logan Training Facility on Saturday, 14th September.

Unveiled ahead of a training match between sides led by new recruit Tom Aldred & young Queenslander Dylan Wenzel-Halls, the Roar showed off all four kits that will be making an appearance during the upcoming campaign.

Newcastle Jets

The Hunter club unveiled three new kits for the upcoming season on Monday, August 26.

The home strip is the club’s traditional blue and red colours in vertical stripes, while their away kit is white with a blue and red sash.

The Jets’ third kit is the all black jersey which the club has already worn twice on their way to the FFA Cup 2019 Quarter Finals.

Melbourne Victory

The four-time Hyundai A-League champions revealed their new home kit for the upcoming Season on Monday, September 9.

The jersey is designed by the club’s official apparel partner Adidas, and remains true to Victory’s traditional Navy Blue colours with a white V.

They also released a new away kit for the new campaign on August 19.

Victory have gone back in time with the jersey, designed by Adidas, paying tribute to one of the club’s classic away kits.

It also heralds the return of the club’s iconic bold chevron.

Sydney FC

Sydney FC unveiled their new kits for the 2019/20 Hyundai A-League season on July 24.

The Sky Blues will be defending their Championship in kits designed by Under Armour, who are producing the club’s off-field products for the next four seasons.

The kits take inspiration from the architecture of one of the most distinct and unique buildings in the world – The Sydney Opera House.

Each of the new kits features Sydney FC’s iconic sky blue – including the main colourway of the team’s home kit – with various shades of blue that is a nod to the Sky Blue’s rich history and the traditional state colour of New South Wales.

Western Sydney Wanderers

Western Sydney Wanderers announced their new playing kit on July 19, one day before facing English Championship outfit Leeds United at the new Bankwest Stadium.

Melbourne City

Melbourne City unveiled their new kit on July 12, the first new designs of the club’s partnership with sports apparel giant, PUMA.

City’s home jersey features the club’s iconic blue palette, a round neck collar and seamless shoulder construction.

The away jersey, meanwhile, contains a white and grey ‘digital glitch’ design, which is paired with black shorts and socks.

Perth Glory

The defending Premiers released their new strip on July 10, ahead of their blockbuster friendly against Premier League giants Manchester United.

Glory have really peeled things back with their design for the upcoming season, reverting to an almost entire purple jersey for their home strip with just a hint of orange around the collar.

Likewise, the alternate strip is now almost completely white with small hints of purple around the collar and sleeves.

“It’s two distinct colours, one distinct style,” according to the reigning Hyundai A-League Premiers.

Western United

Western United unveiled their inaugural playing kits in June, with the home strip composed of vertical green and black stripes, accompanied by the club’s unique shield-less club logo.

United went for something completely different with their alternate strip which features a geometric design inspired by the green wedge from within the new club logo.

According to the Hyundai A-League 2019/20 season debutants, the motif was derived from the west pointer in a 4-point compass rose to symbolise that: “no matter where the team plays, they will always pay respect to the fans and the values of the west.”
