EPL striker on Jets’ radar

First Emile Heskey now Newcastle Jets are eyeing another ex-England and Liverpool striker for the Hyundai A-League next season.

Reports in The Sunday Telegraph over the weekend revealed the Jets are targeting bean-pole Stoke City forward Peter Crouch as a marquee signing for next season.

The story suggested Jets owner Nathan Tinkler is using Heskey, who spent two seasons in the Hunter, as a go-between to try and lure Crouch Down Under.

“I’ve spoken to Crouch’s management and we’re trying to talk him into coming out to Australia with his family for a playing stint at the Jets,” Tinkler told The Sunday Telegraph.

“The FFA and Fox want to see some big names out here playing in the A-League and he certainly fits the bill. I’ve spoken to Emile and he’s keen to help if he can. We’ll see what happens.”
