EPL club Spurs to play in Sydney?

It’s been reported that English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur could play a friendly in Sydney, possibly against Sydney FC or Western Sydney Wanderers in late May.

A report in the Sydney Morning Herald claims the London club – home to Harry Kane, the hottest new English striker – would fly in to the Harbour City immediately after their EPL season concludes on May 24.

Spurs would play either of the city’s two Hyundai A-League clubs under the proposed arrangements, claims the report.

The English club last played in Australia in 1985. They lost 1-0 to the Socceroos in a “B” international at the MCG in front of just over 20,000 fans.

If Spurs do play in Sydney it’ll add to an already blockbuster off-season calendar in Australia.

Real Madrid, Roma and Manchester City will play in a tournament at the MCG in July.

Also in the same month, Liverpool face Adelaide United in the South Australian capital and face Roar in Brisbane.
