Tune in to ABC TV each Sunday at 3pm nationally for LIVE Westfield W-League action, this week featuring a blockbuster to conclude the regular season as Canberra United welcome Perth Glory to the nation’s capital potentially needing a draw to reach the semi-finals.
Perth Glory lived up to their name last weekend in a sparkling display on national screens as Sydney FC were dismantled to the tune of five unanswered goals.
With their attacking quarter of Westfield Matildas – Sam Kerr, Kate Gill, Caitlin Foord and Collette McCallum – in scintillating form, it seems the Glory are in untouchable form.
They are now hunting a new league benchmark after an unprecedented ten wins in 11 games, having also set a competition-high goals tally for a single season.
Third-placed Canberra have stumbled in recent weeks recording a draw in Newcastle, before a potentially costly defeat at Brisbane Roar last Saturday.
Depending on the result on Saturday between Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets, United may take on the Glory needing a result to claim their semi-final ticket.
While it may make for a scary prospect for home side Canberra United, it makes for a mouth-watering prospect for local fans and nationwide TV viewers alike.
The ABC TV Sunday afternoon broadcast games are hosted by Stephanie Brantz, with former Westfield Matildas and W-League star Sarah Walsh joining Peter Wilkins in commentary.
Catch all the action Live nationally at 3.00pm Sunday on ABC TV, or catch up from Monday on ABC iView with a full replay each Tuesday at 3.30am.
