Westfield Matildas defender Elise Kellond-Knight has been selected in the FIFA Women-s World Cup 2011 All-star team. The 20-year-old defender played every minute of the Westfield Matildas World Cup campaign and was one of the 21 players named in the the All-star team selected at the end of the tournament.
Kellond-Knight is the only Australian player selected in the All-Star team that included adidas Golden Ball winner, Homare Sawa, adidas Silver Ball winner, Abby Wambach and adidas Bronze Ball winner Hope Solo.
Kellond-Knight’s selection in the All-star team capped off a year of outstanding performance. She was instrumental in Westfield Matildas 2010 AFC Women-s Asian Cup triumph and helped Brisbane Roar to the Westfield W-League Championship this season.
