Impressive Dutch midfielder Tom Hiariej will captain Central Coast Mariners in Thursday’s clash with Adelaide United, the club confirmed on Wednesday.
With regular captain Alan Baró suspended after being sent off in last week’s win over Sydney FC, Mariners boss Paul Okon has turned to the experienced Hiariej.
The 29-year-old arrived in the Hyundai A-League this season after a long spell in the Eredivisie where he made over 150 appearances for FC Groningen.
In the absence of Captain Alan Baró, Tom Hiariej has been handed the privilege of leading us into battle tomorrow night with the captain's armband 💪🏽 Congrats, Tom! #CCMvADL pic.twitter.com/PIlakcqlfK

Hiariej has started every game so far this season and is one of only three Mariners to play every minute.
It’ll be a big game for Central Coast on Thursday night as they look to capitalise on their scintillating 2-0 win over Sydney FC last time out.
