On a low scoring weekend in the Westfield W-League, Melbourne Victory striker Natasha Dowie moved top of the competition’s leading scorer list.
The England international netted her third in as many games as the Victory slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Sydney FC.
Dowie will be seeking to follow in the footsteps of international teammate Jodie Taylor who won the Westfield W-League golden boot in 2014 – the only imported player to do so.
Meanwhile, young Adelaide United forward Adriana Jones became just the fourth player this season to reach two goals for the season. After moving from Newcastle Jets in the off-season, Jones now has two in as many games.
Another notable goalscorer on the weekend was Ashleigh Sykes, with the reigning Julie Dolan medallist off the mark as Canberra secured a crucial 1-0 win at Brisbane Roar.
