Melbourne City star Jamie Maclaren collected his third A-League Golden Boot at the virtually-held Dolan Warren Awards on Wednesday, 23 June after scoring for fun throughout the 2020/21 campaign.
It’s the second top-scorer award in successive seasons for Maclaren and third in total, after he shared the honour with Besart Berisha in 2016/17.
Maclaren scored 25 goals in the 2020/21 campaign to finish on top of the scoring charts by considerable distance. Macarthur FC striker Matt Derbyshire finished second on 14 goals, 11 behind the City spearhead.
Maclaren’s 25 strikes came from 24 games. The Socceroos forward took 114 shots, created 22 chances and notched five assists along the way. Scoring five goals in a 7-0 Melbourne Derby rout over Melbourne Victory was the standout performance of a stellar campaign for Maclaren – who extended his City stay by a further two seasons on Wednesday morning.
