Dolan Warren Awards: Lisa De Vanna takes out Westfield W-League Goal of the Year

Westfield Matildas legend Lisa De Vanna’s solo run and finish was awarded Westfield W-League Goal of the Year honours at the Dolan Warren Awards on Wednesday night.

De Vanna beat out a number of stunning contenders to clinch the top honour, putting her ingenuity, skill, powerful running and eye for a finish on show as she scored the goal adjudged as the best of the 2020/21 campaign.

Goal of the Year is chosen by a panel of appointed football experts voting on a shortlist of contenders.

De Vanna netted the Goal of the Year winner in Melbourne Victory’s 6-0 rout of City in a Round 3 Melbourne Derby.

De Vanna fooled City’s Jenna McCormick with a dummy run over the ball inside her own half, nutmegging the chasing defender to regain possession and dart down the left wing. Tori Tumeth gave chase but couldn’t close the space as De Vanna got into the box to finish.
