Last weekend saw Bruce Djite back in action as he played for the Reds- Youth Team and at the same time the short term contract of fellow striker Brent McGrath has concluded.

The timing of Djite-s return to full training from an ankle injury has coincided well with the expiry of McGrath-s month long tenure, the 22 year old returning to his home in Melbourne after managing two appearances for the Reds.

Highly appreciative for McGrath-s efforts and commitment during his time with the club, Adelaide United General Manager – Football Operations, Michael Petrillo said they would not be extending his tenure at this stage with Djite on the way back to retaining full fitness.

“Brent performed well while he was here and fitted into the group without any problems but with Bruce now back into full training we have decided to allow Brent to go back to Melbourne,” Petrillo said.

“You never know what might happen down the track in terms of him playing here again but we thank him for his contribution and at just 22 years of age I-m sure he will have opportunities in front of him to play.”

In his first game back since suffering an ankle injury at training about seven weeks ago, Djite got through a full 90 minutes for the Reds- Youth Team.

Having been out for an extended period, Djite is expected to continue building up his fitness with minutes in the Foxtel National Youth League before he is considered for a return to the Reds- senior team.
