Perth Glory boss Kenny Lowe admitted his side’s injury-interrupted season has been difficult but isn’t giving up on a late push for the Hyundai A-League Finals Series.
Glory, minus injured star Diego Castro, outclassed Central Coast Mariners 3-1 at nib Stadium on Saturday night to record their second win in three matches.
The victory moved Perth to within three points of sixth-placed Adelaide, who have a game in hand.
And with the likes of Adam Taggart and Joel Chianese returning to full fitness, Lowe is confident Perth can finish the season strongly.
“We’ve had a hell of a disjointed year. A lot of guys haven’t had much game time,” Lowe said.
“They can feel something happening. And also they want to make something happen to catch up for a bit of lost time that a lot of them have had.
“We get a break for two weeks now and we roll into three more home games and one away game.
“Stranger things have happened. People above us aren’t really on fire. We’re getting a bit of momentum.”
Lowe revealed Castro is battling a calf complaint and is hopeful of having the Spanish maestro back for their match against Melbourne Victory at home on March 25.
