Disciplinary and Ethics Committee to meet on Papadopoulos incident

An independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee hearing will be held on Friday, 1 December 2017 at Football Federation Australia’s offices (Level 22, 1 Oxford St, Darlinghurst) commencing at 4:00pm (AEDT) in relation to a matter involving Brisbane Roar FC Player Avram Papadopoulos (Papadopoulos).

The independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee hearing relates to an incident which occurred in or around the 76th minute of Brisbane Roar FC’s Round 8 match against Sydney FC on Saturday, 25 November 2017 involving Papadopoulos.

The independent Match Review Panel (MRP), at a hearing on 27 November 2017, regarded the incident as constituting the offence of spitting at a player and has referred the incident to the independent Disciplinary and Ethics Committee for hearing regarding what sanction should apply over and above the mandatory match suspension (which Papadopoulos must serve against Western Sydney Wanderers FC on Saturday, 2 December 2017).

The MRP had the authority to consider the incident as Papadopoulos was issued with a direct Red Card by the referee.
