Sydney FC superstar Alessandro Del Piero is back wearing Sydney FC colours after rejoining his team mates on the training field in Japan.
The Italian will pull on the famous Sky Blue jersey for the first time this season when Sydney FC take on Sagan Tosu at the Best Amenity Stadium near Fukuoka on Wednesday night.
Del Piero arrived in Japan yesterday, shortly before his Sydney FC colleagues and put on a skills clinic for local children this afternoon.
“It was good to see him,” said defender Seb Ryall. “He-s a legend in the game and everyone-s happy to see him back at Sydney FC,” he continued.
Wednesday-s match is set to be played in front of a capacity 25,000 crowd, a prospect that fills the players- with much anticipation.
“It-s going to be exciting, we-re expecting a big crowd and a big match for the team to test ourselves against a higher level club as well,” said striker Joel Chianese.
“It will be good for us to see where we are at.”
Full back Ryall however urged a word of caution for anyone who thinks the score will be a walkover for the Sky Blues.
“They-re a good side and are in the top league in Japan and we-re still in pre-season so we-re just looking to work on things we-ve been training hard at in the last six weeks, and take it step by step into the season,” he said.
“It-s a nice stadium and it looks like there will be quite a good atmosphere if they can get a good few fans.”
Nick Carle will join the Sydney FC squad tomorrow after missing yesterday’s flight due to illness.
