Football Federation Australia (FFA) and NAB, together with Brisbane Roar FC are proud to announce Jamie Maclaren as the December nominee for the Hyundai A-League, NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 Award.
The nomination is Maclaren’s second in two seasons after he was named the April nominee for the 2014/15 Award while playing for Perth Glory.
Maclaren, who is currently with the Olyroos squad in Doha ahead of the Olympic qualifiers, was proud to be named the December nominee for the Hyundai A-League, NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 Award.
“There are some great players who have won this award in the past, and two of the guys in this Olyroos squad were nominated in the past two months so it’s great to be the nominee for December,” said Maclaren.
“I’ve got a coach that backs me and believes in what I can do and we’re sitting at the top of the table at the moment which is great, but right now my focus is on trying to help the Olyroos qualify for Rio.”
Maclaren is the third player, and second from Brisbane Roar, to be nominated for the Hyundai A-League, NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 Award, joining team mate Brandon Borrello (October nominee) and Sydney FC left back Alex Gersbach (November nominee).
The Hyundai A-League NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 will be announced at the Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League 2015/16 Awards Night on Tuesday 26 April 2016.
Mr Steve Shaw Retail General Manager, Victoria and Tasmania said he is delighted to see the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award continue to unearth the stars of tomorrow.
“We congratulate Jamie on his nomination and look forward to watching his development and growth on the football field in the years to come,” said Mr Shaw.
“We are also pleased to recognise Jamie‘s junior club, Green Gully Soccer Club (Victoria), and hope that our support will help the club to continue developing the game at a local grassroots level.”
NAB has generously donated a $1,500 equipment pack and $1,000 in a NAB Community Saver Account to Jamie’s nominated junior club.
The overall winner of the Hyundai A-League, NAB Young Footballer of the Year 2015/16 Award will receive a $10,000 personal investment portfolio, along with a NAB Private Client Manager to assist with a range of banking and financial services.
“As a supporter of the NAB Young Footballer of the Year Award, we are proud to play an important role in identifying and rewarding the future stars of the game. Who knows, we may even see some of the nominees donning the boots for the Socceroos in the future,” Mr Shaw continued.
Each month representatives from the FFA Technical department vote on a 3-2-1 basis for the most outstanding U-23 players in the Hyundai A-League during that period.
