Western Sydney Wanderers coach Dean Heffernan has taken out the Westfield W-League Coach of the Month award for December.
Heffernan was the standout candidate to seal the prize with the ex-Hyundai A-League defender earning 68% of the vote.
Brisbane Roar coach Jake Goodship (19%), Melbourne Victory stalwart Jeff Hopkins (8%) and Melbourne City coach Rado Vidosic (5%) were the other nominees.
After starting the month with a 1-1 draw to reigning Premiers Melbourne Victory, Heffernan’s Wanderers underlined their Premiership credentials and stormed to the top of the ladder with resounding victories over Sydney FC (5-0) and Canberra United (4-0).
Western Sydney’s crushing derby victory ended a wait spanning over four years for success against their fierce-cross town rivals, and their incredible dominance in that match at Bankwest Stadium will be remembered for years to come.
The Red and Black followed that up with an impressive win over Canberra, a match that saw the club secure their first ever clean sheet away from home, and tally back to back clean sheets for the first time.
Wanderers midfielder Denise O’Sullivan took out the Player of the Month prize for December.
