Williams bent an unstoppable curling effort past Roar stopper Jamie Young to put Wellington Phoenix into a 2-1 lead against Brisbane back in Round 9’s clash.
Phoenix would go on to win 4-1 courtesy of Williams’ stunner, and it was a stark reminder of the radar and technique the 30-year-old forward possesses from range.
Williams’ strike earned an overwhelming 77% of the vote, with Luke Brattan’s spectacular chested volley and Brandon O’Neill’s hammer against Central Coast Mariners finishing second and third with 9 and 6 per cent respectively.
