Football Australia has confirmed Central Coast Mariners assistant coach Danny Schofield is suspended for his side’s Isuzu UTE A-League Grand Final against Melbourne Victory after collecting a red card in Saturday night’s Semi-Final against Sydney FC.
Schofield has received a one-game ban for the indirect red card issued to him by referee Alireza Faghani three minutes into the second half of Central Coast’s second-leg Semi-Final draw against the Sky Blues.
Mark Jackson’s assistant was shown an initial yellow card for dissent after protesting the decision not to book Sydney defender Hayden Matthews after a nudge on Mariners fullback Jacob Farrell.
Faghani gestured for Schofield to take a seat on the bench but the Mariners assistant faked a sitting down motion, before springing back to his feet. Faghani responded with a second yellow card, which resulted in a red.
FA confirmed the restrictions of Schofield’s one-game suspension:
“Schofield is prohibited from being in the dressing rooms, tunnel, field of play, technical area, or any area which the players may prepare for the Match and is prohibited from having any contact with media within 2 hours before the Grand Final. However, pursuant to the Regulations, Schofield may enter the field of play to participate in post-match presentations at the conclusion of the Match.”

On or around the full-time whistle, Sydney FC midfielder Anthony Caceres received a second yellow and an indirect red card after remonstrating with the referee.
FA confirmed a one-game suspension for Caceres, who will be ineligible for Sydney’s next match either in the Isuzu UTE A-League or Australia Cup.
