A first half strike from teenager Kofi Danning has helped Sydney FC to a 1-0 victory over Sydney Olympic at Belmore Sportsground on Sunday afternoon.

The win stretches the Sky Blues’ unbeaten pre-season streak to 12 matches and was a perfect finish to the club’s highly successful friendly campaign against State League sides.

Sydney dominated the majority of the match and took the lead in the 28th minute after Mark Bridge caused havoc in the penalty area before laying the ball off to Danning, who clinically finished from 20 metres out.

Chances were few and far between for the remainder of the match with neither goalkeeper asked too many questions until Olympic custodian Zane Zaneli pulled off a stunning save from an Alex Brosque header with just 10 minutes remaining.

The Sky Blues’ final match of their pre-season trials is against fellow Hyundai A-League side Newcastle on Sunday.
