Optus Small Sided Football star Luis Perpina is inspired by the electrifying atmosphere at Hyundai A-League matches to one day become a professional player.
“With the chant of all the songs and the fans waving their scarfs and flags in the air, it makes me feel like I want to play in the Hyundai A-League,” said the nine-year-old.
“I want to play for Melbourne Victory and hopefully Harry Kewell is still playing.”
The left-back is no stranger to playing in front of a big crowd, after his Beaumaris Junior Soccer Club team won a Football Federation Australia promotion and played at half time during the Qantas Socceroos v Netherlands match in 2009.
The Melbourne based youngster is now part of the WE ARE FOOTBALL campaign and is one of the signatories that appears on a letter of intent, with an enclosed merchandise pack which was sent out to key stakeholders in the footballing community.
“I’m looking forward to the start of the Hyundai A-League season and will be going to most of Victory’s home matches,” the representative player said.
In four years since Perpina was introduced to the sport by his father, he has already scored 42 goals and the last match was a whopping 10-2, in Beaumaris’ favour.
“I love the competitive nature of football, especially hard games. Easy games get boring,” said the St Brigids’ Year 3 student.
