Crazy nine-goal thriller in Perth!

A desperate Perth Glory defeated Melbourne City 5-4 on Sunday at nib Stadium to fall agonisingly short of hosting a home Elimination Final in one of the great games of the Hyundai A-League.

The result wasn’t quite enough for Perth to host and they will now travel to Melbourne to play City this weekend at AAMI Park in Elimination Final 2.

After an extravaganza of entertainment in Sunday’s earlier game at Suncorp, another thrilling, end-to-end contest was played out in Perth in front of over 12,000 fans in what was an even better game.

Glory began like a steam train, hitting the net in the first five minutes as they pushed for a big win to help them host a final, before Tim Cahill restored parity.

Andy Keogh and Chris Harold extended the lead to 3-1 early in the second half as Glory fans urged on their team to score two more.

Andy Keogh rises highest to win a header over the Melbourne City defence.

They got one after Nebo Marinkovic’s first touch was to slam home a trademark set piece to make it 4-1.

But Cahill with his second effectively ended Glory’s brave effort and Nico Colazo iced the cake.

But Glory weren’t finished hitting back with another goal before a brain fade from keeper Liam Reddy let City back into it at 5-4.

What a game. What a Sunday. What a way to finish the regular season!
