Could the ‘slippery fish’ return to Brisbane Roar?

He famously slotted the winning penalty in the epic Hyundai A-League 2010/11 Grand Final and now former Brisbane Roar attacker Henrique is eyeing a return to the club.

According to a report in the Courier Mail, Henrique is back in Australia and is keen on a return to his former stomping ground, potentially for next season.

The 32-year-old departed the Roar at the conclusion of the 2015/16 campaign and has spent time in Malaysia and Thailand in recent years. He also had a short stint with Adelaide United in 2016/17.

But after failing to adjust to life in Asia, the Brazilian-born Australian has ambitions of playing for Brisbane once again.

“I want to move my family here and stay here now,” Henrique told the Courier Mail.

“I’m waiting for some offers … I’d rather stay here in Brisbane. “I’ve got big feelings (for the fans).”

Currently a free agent, the attacker is available to join another Hyundai A-League club despite the closure of the transfer window last week.

Having won three Championships during his seven seasons with the club, Henrique admitted he had mixed feelings about his departure from the club.

“If I could change a little bit, I would change a few things, but it’s all experience,” he said.

“About the choice, the timing … maybe it wasn’t the best time for me to leave.”
