The Hyundai A-League’s favourite German and one of the league’s greatest players is saying “Auf wiedersehen” to Roar, opening the enticing possibility he could play for another Aussie club next season.
Brisbane Roar legend Thomas Broich will leave the club at the end of the season, it’s been reported and confirmed by the club.Â
The two-time Johnny Warren Medallist had hoped for another contract, but has told the Courier Mail’s Marco Monteverde it wasn’t forthcoming.

It means Friday night’s Elimination Final could be his last in the A-League if Roar don’t progress, although they still have ACL commitments.Â
“[Coach John Aloisi] said at this point he didn’t know whether he could offer me a new deal and how much he could offer me, so it left me in a really uncertain position,” said Broich.
“While I totally respect that the club has to do what is has to do, I just cannot be in that kind of position.
“I thanked John for his honesty and made my call,” he said.

Broich was brought to the A-League by Roar coach Ange Postecoglou at the start of the 2010/11 season and has played 179 games for the club, helping them win three championships.
He is regarded by many as the best player ever to feature in the Hyundai A-League.
“I understand about the club going forward,” he said.
“I’m 36 years old so if they want to go for a younger player, then fair enough.
“I’m not going to stand in anyone’s way.
Roar fans will have the chance to farewell Broich when Brisbane meet Western Sydney in Friday night’s Hyundai A-League Finals Series Elimination Final.
