Cottee’s Schools 5-a-Side football visited the Lake Macquarie area of Rathmines today with over 200 primary school kids from five schools taking part in the fun filled football clinics.
Hyundai A-League stars, midfielder Jobe Wheelhouse and defender Nikolai Topor-Stanley, from the Newcastle Jets were there to welcome the students to Rathmines Oval and help roll out the full day program that included skills, drills and plenty of Cottee-s 5-a-Side football.
“It’s great to see so many kids getting involved in, not just football, but sport in general,” said Wheelhouse.
Cottee-s and the Hyundai A-League are adding fun to school sports with the roll out of school clinics across Australia.
Cottee-s Schools 5-a-side provides school students from years three and four the opportunity to experience football in a fun and relaxed environment and so far over 25,000 kids have been involved since it launched in 2009.
A school attending a Cottee’s Schools 5-a-side play a minimum of 5 games in a round robin format. The simplified rules make the main focus of the day all about participation and enjoyment. This ensures that boys and girls of any ability are able to be included in teams and able to enjoy a day of football.
