Corica: Sydney FC’s FFA Cup Final disappointment will not linger

Steve Corica insists he and his Sydney FC side will have no problem putting their FFA Cup Final disappointment behind them this weekend.

The 45-year-old is already plotting the Sky Blues’ Hyundai A-League assault, which returns to full focus with this Friday’s visit to Melbourne City.

“I’m just as disappointed as everyone else in that changing room,” he said.

“It would have been nice to win obviously, first final for me in the cup, but it’s not to be. It doesn’t matter, we’ll move on.

“There’s another three competitions that we’re in [and] we want to win more trophies. Of course, tonight we didn’t but we’ll head that way on Friday night.

“Get a good result on Friday night and things change again, we’re back top of the table, looking forward to winning trophies this season.”

Friday night’s clash with Melbourne City will be Sydney FC’s third match in six days.

And although City might enter that encounter with more petrol in the tank, Corica is drawing huge encouragement from their FFA Cup run.

“I think defensively we were great. The boys put in a wonderful effort, I’m very proud of what they’ve achieved and the staff to get here,” he continued.

“Obviously, a tough place to come but I’m still very proud of what they’ve done tonight.

“Congratulations to Adelaide of course. They fought very hard, they got the win they got the two goals and they were two very good goals. In the end that’s what it came down to.”
