The sixth edition of the FFA Cup will culminate tomorrow evening when Adelaide United host their well-known rivals Melbourne City FC in the FFA Cup Final 2019 at Coopers Stadium in Adelaide (kick-off 7:00pm (local)).
Adelaide United will be looking to become the first club to win back-to-back FFA Cups after they defeated Sydney FC 2-1 in last year’s FFA Cup Final. Should the Reds win they will also be the first club to win the FFA Cup three times.
Melbourne City FC, fresh from their 2-1 victory over Adelaide United last weekend in the Hyundai A-League, will want to add to their FFA Cup Final 2016 win when they defeated Sydney FC 1-0 at AAMI Park.
Alex King will referee the FFA Cup Final 2019 and will be joined by Assistant Referees Matthew Cream & Wilson Brown, Additional Assistant Referees Shaun Evans & Adam Kersey with Josh Mannella as the Fourth Official.
Former NSL Legend and South Australian championship winning coach Joe Mullen will present the coveted Mark Viduka Medal to the player of the FFA Cup Final 2019.
Former “The Voice” contestant, Joel Wiggins (@joelwiggins) from Brisbane, will sing the Australia National Anthem pre-match. Joel, was one of the contenders who submitted an entry for the honour of singing the anthem at the FFA Cup Final 2019.
The match will take on an extra significance for Wiggins who is an Adelaide United fan and will be dedicating this performance to his father.
“I played for Bairnsdale in Victoria and my Dad played for an Adelaide team when he was young. I’m not too sure what team Dad played for, but I’m doing this performance in honour of my Dad who lost his battle with cancer in 2018,“ said Wiggins
“We grew up as Adelaide United fans. We also supported Noarlunga United in the local league.
“I’m really looking forward to performing in front of packed stadium on Wednesday evening,” concluded Wiggins.
Dallas Watts, Music Scholar and UNSW Singing Teacher, was the judge for the national competition which saw 60 entries submitted for the sought-after role.
The FFA Cup Final 2019 will be broadcast live on FOX SPORTS 505 and also streamed on www.foxsports.com.au, Kayo Sports (www.kayosports.com.au) and the MyFootball Live App.
