The Code: Life with the Mariners

The Code: LIfe with the Mariners is set to debut on Fox Sports 3 at 7:30 on Wednesday evening and will take you behind the scenes of an A-League club like never before.

Central Coast Mariners held an advanced screening of the first episode of its exclusive six-part documentary series entitled ‘The Code: Life with the Mariners- at Event Cinemas, Tuggerah on Monday evening.

The series officially begins at 7:30pm on Fox Sports 3 &3HD on Wednesday 27 March, and tracks the team-s journey throughout the most anticipated season in Australian football history.

Moreover, the series will take fans of the Mariners and the Hyundai A-League behind the scenes of the Club, exploring the unique culture that exists at one of the competition-s smallest, yet most successful franchises.

Following the advanced screening Fox Sports analyst Adam Peacock described the production value and content included in episode one as ‘amazing-.

“I was expecting something pretty good and it exceeded that,” Peacock said.

“It-s so well shot and so well put together, and knowing from a television background how hard those things can be to put together and how much work goes in to say, a minute or two minutes, it-s high quality stuff.”

Peacock added that he expects some of the characters in the Mariners- squad to feature prominently throughout the series.

“I know the ins and outs of what goes on behind the scenes and things like that, so I have a fair idea of what might take place,” he said. “I would say Adriano Pellegrino is going to prove himself to be the funny guy of the Club, which he is.”

“I haven-t seen any pest behaviour from Danny McBreen yet, and I am expecting a bit of that!”

Central Coast Tourism Chief Executive Officer Robyne Abernethy gave CCMariners.com.au her thoughts on the first episode.

“I thought the episode was fabulous,” Abernethy said. “It really showed a wonderful Central Coast, but also the Mariners are just brilliant – the fans will love it!”

“Seeing the guys enjoy themselves out on the Coast is what it-s all about for us at Central Coast Tourism,” she added.

Central Coast Mariners Assistant Coach Phil Moss gave the first episode his tick of approval, noting he enjoyed the comedy value that producer Nick Piper and his team from Onion TV have managed to include in the first episode.

“It was probably more like a comedy show than a documentary,” Moss said. “The guys have done a fantastic job, very professional, and I am not ashamed to admit there were goosebumps there watching certain scenes!”

“As Nick (Piper) has said from the start, it-s about celebrating what the Mariners are all about. You hear this word culture … but what is that culture? The Code is really going to be a fantastic expose of all of that.”

‘The Code: Life with the Mariners- is supported by Central Coast Tourism and the NSW Government through Destination NSW and its Regional Tourism Partnership Program.
