Kamau the hero as City win Hyundai A-League season opener

A Bruce Kamau brace has helped Melbourne City FC to a deserved 2-0 win over Brisbane Roar in the opening game of the Hyundai A-League Season 2017/18 on Friday night at AAMI Park in Melbourne. 

STORY OF THE GAME

  • An even first half looked like it would end goalless before Kamau coolly right-footed the ball into the net on the stroke of half time.
  • Kamau made it 2-0 inside the last 20 minutes to cap a deserved win. 
  • City’s new striker Ross McCormack, while not scoring, showed why he’s so highly rated, and City’s Nick Fitzgerald was also influential.

Brattan’s curling corner was cleared to the edge of the box where Kamau had time to place it past Michael Theo’s left glove for the opening goal of the new Hyundai A-League season.
