Perhaps we shouldn’t have been surprised by Melbourne City’s comeback win on Sunday away to Brisbane Roar.
City have lost just four of the 10 matches they have conceded the first goal in this season (winning three and drawing three).
On Sunday at Suncorp, the visitors came back from conceding early to win 2-1, courtesy of Marcin Budzinski’s equaliser, and a second-half winner to Stefan Mauk.
If there’s one thing that Warren Joyce has brought in, it’s character. And City are showing that this season under the English coach.
“We came from behind last week against the Jets and again tonight. So the resilience in this team is what we’re looking for.
“There are nine games to go in the season and let’s pick up as many points as we can,” keeper Dean Bouzanis told Fox Sports after the game.
Sunday’s win confirmed a revival for the Melbourne outfit. They are now unbeaten in six Hyundai A-League matches (W4 D2).
The last time they went longer without a loss was a seven-game streak from January to March 2014 (W6, D1).
However, it could’ve been a draw with Roar spurning a late chance to equalise from the spot.
Interestingly, there have been 10 penalties in games involving Melbourne City this season, the highest number in the league is 11.
