Melbourne City have registered a tight 1-0 win over Western Sydney Wanderers in their Hyundai A-League pre-season friendly at Shepparton’s John McEwen Reserve on Friday night.

►City boss Warren Joyce handed a debut to new Polish midfielder and marquee signing Marcin Budzinski.
►City’s winner came on 21 minutes when a short corner saw Daniel Arzani felled in the box, with the teenage midfielder stepping up to slot the spot-kick past keeper John Hall.
►The contest petered out somewhat prior to the break, with the Wanderers making a number of changes at the interval.
