The Hyundai A-League 2018/19 Regular Season climaxed with a string of stunning goals but it was one of the more unusual efforts that took out the honours in April’s Goal of the Month.
It is not often that a penalty is seen as a thing of beauty but the fans voted Brisbane Roar playmaker Eric Bautheac’s audacious spot-kick against Adelaide United in Round 27 as the pick of the bunch.
While it did not help his side to a win – Roar eventually going down 5-3 to the Reds – the Frenchman’s classy finish won’t be forgotten quickly, especially after it went viral on social media.

Bautheac received more than 50% of the vote to comfortably take out the prize for April, his second Goal of the Month for this season after his acrobatic overhead kick against Central Coast Mariners got the nod in February.
The attacking midfielder also won Goal of the Season at the Dolan Warren Awards earlier this month for that same overhead effort.
