Central Coast Mariners v Western United: match preview

Central Coast Mariners and Western United face opposite problems as they aim to get back to winning ways in Round 7.

Alen Stajcic’s side started strongly against Adelaide United last week, going a goal up through Milan Duric’s penalty after only five minutes, before a late first-half collapse gift-wrapped the Reds a 3-1 win in Gosford.

Mark Rudan, on the other hand, cannot get his Green and Black side moving. For the past four games, Western United have fallen a goal behind in the first-half and, despite late rallies, have dropped valuable points.

Rudan bemoaned the mentality of his experienced squad after the 1-0 home reverse against Newcastle Jets in Round 6. Both coaches will see this contest as the ideal opportunity to raise their confidence and get three points in the bank.
