The Central Coast Mariners’ quest for their first win of the Hyundai A-League season will be boosted by the return of two star players on Sunday.
Powerful striker Dylan Macallister and tough-tackling midfielder Mile Jedinak are both expected to be available when the Mariners tackle Queensland Roar at Suncorp Stadium.
Macallister has not played since the Pre-Season Cup after suffering a rib injury in a victory against Queensland while Jedinak played no part in the warm-up tournament as he battled a groin injury, but both have trained strongly this week.
“They looked good at training so we’ll see how they pull up later in the week,” Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna said.
“But they both should be available for selection which is a big boost for us. They are both very important members of our squad.”
“Dylan gives us a lot of options in attack while Mile is one of the best midfielders in the country.”
The Mariners need a good result on Sunday after a frustrating start to their fourth A-League campaign.
A first round draw with Newcastle was followed by a 3-2 home defeat against Sydney FC on Saturday night.
McKinna added: “Training has been good, the boys will lift for Queensland.”
