Adelaide United FC and Newcastle Jets FC will have spots to fill on their roster in the January transfer window after both clubs released players today.
The Westfield FFA Cup Champions have announced the mutual termination of the playing contract of Cassio de Abreu Oliveira effective immediately.
Cassio is a two-time Adelaide United Club Champion, having made 158 appearances and scoring 11 goals for the club.
The 34-year-old has had a distinguished playing career not only with the Reds but overseas including famed Brazilian club Flamengo where he played 96 games as well as winning the Campeonato Gaúcho in 2002 with Internacional.
Meanwhile the Jets, who celebarted 10 years in the Hyundai A-League with a 2-1 win over Adelaide last Friday night, have announced the club have parted ways with Northern Irishman Johnny Steele.
The midfielder had not played for Newcastle since being granted a leave of absence on November 14.
