Adelaide United FC-s Argentine wizard Marcelo Carrusca has ended speculation surrounding his immediate future after signing a contract extension with the club.

Carrusca put pen to paper on a further one year deal to keep him in Adelaide until at least the end of the 2014/15 season.

Since arriving from Argentina, Carrusca has proven one of the most talented foreigners to grace the Hyundai A-League, his superb skill and touch a significant reason for the Reds- surge up the ladder in the past two months.

“Marcelo is not only a quality player but he is also a quality person and to have been able to secure him for at least one more season is great news not only for our fans but for the A-League in general,” Adelaide Untied Football Director Michael Petrillo said.

“We were always confident Marcelo wanted to stay at the club and we are extremely pleased that the negotiations have now come to a successful conclusion and that Marcelo has agreed to remain with us beyond this current season.”

The 30 year old Argentinean U20 representative, who has made 38 appearances and scored 9 goals in Australia, revealed there were a number of factors that led to his decision to stay a Red.

“I am very happy to renew my contract,” Carrusca said.

“There are many reasons (for my decision) – my family is very happy here, the coach and the fans and the club, everybody helped me every day and another reason is what we are doing on the pitch with the style of play.

“We now know what we need to do on the pitch. We have one style and we are working very hard every day on the pitch to learn this style.”

“I love the way that we want to play and for that I want to stay and help the team to reach the finals and of course like everybody I want to win the Grand Final.”

Carrusca-s re-signing confirms all of the club-s import spots for next season, with fellow Argentine Jeronimo and Portuguese winger Fabio Ferreira joining Spanish duo Sergio Cirio and Isaias.

“I think all of our foreign players are doing very well and it-s very good news for our fans and the sponsors that Marcelo has decided to stay with Adelaide United because he is an important player in our team and also a very good person in the group,” Coach Josep Gombau said.

Gombau also is pleased to be able to continue working with as many of the current players as possible to further develop the new playing style within the club and the signature of Carrusca goes a long way to achieving this very important objective.

“He is an exceptional talent and also is a very experienced player and these things bring a lot of value to our team to be able to reach our objectives for the club in the future.”

Carrusca-s announcement is a major boost for Adelaide United as the club prepares for a huge game against Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Saturday, the third placed Reds with the chance to go three points clear of the Victory with a win.
