Defender admits she was excited to earn her 50th cap for the Westfield Matildas against Holland last weekend.
Kim Carroll has admitted that she was excited to earn her 50th cap for the Matildas last weekend when they took on Holland in an international friendly in the Netherlands, despite it being a long time between drinks for her on the international stage.
The 25-year-old defender has not worn the green and gold for almost two years but finally racked up her milestone appearance for the Matildas as they went down in their first game of their current European tour 3-1.
“I think they-ve all been pretty special,” Carroll said about representing her country.
“The big games like at a World Cup or the Asia Cup final come to mind (as some of my best) as they were exciting matches.”
Carroll, who has had her issues with injuries, admits that the European tour will provide the Matildas the opportunity to get both herself and the side ready for their upcoming schedule.
“For the team it is important as we need as many internationals as we can in the lead up to Asian Cup qualifiers.
For me it-s a matter of getting my minutes in a game. I haven-t quite played a 90 minute game yet so that is what I am aiming for.”
Despite admitting that there is a lot of competition within the squad, Carroll knows she hasn-t achieved everything she has wanted to in the sport just yet.
“I still want to achieve things. I want to go to another World Cup and the next Olympics as I haven-t been to one as yet.
We want to be successful at the next Asia Cup and win the gold again.”
The Matildas will next take on Dutch club team ADO Den Haag on Tuesday.
