Ellie Carpenter capped a dream first season at Melbourne City by taking out the club’s Westfield W-League 2019/20 Season Player of the Year award.
The Westfield Matildas right-back was crowned City’s best on Tuesday night after playing a key role in the club’s double-winning side.
Carpenter made the switch from Canberra United to City at the start of the campaign, going on to play all 14 games as Rado Vidosic’s side went through undefeated.
Still just 19, Carpenter showed her undoubted class as she converted to a wing-back role under Vidosic, scoring two goals and providing four assists.
Her tireless displays down the right flank also saw her create 31 chances through the season, while she was also a vital contributor in City’s stingy defence.
Humbling to receive this award. Wouldn’t be possible without my teammates, coaching staff, family and amazing fans. Thank you @MelbourneCity 💙 https://t.co/cxqpRsjTY1
