The Newcastle Jets have agreed to part ways with midfielder Zenon Caravella, effective immediately.
Caravella has been granted a release from the final year of his contract in order to pursue endeavours outside of football.
“After a fantastic 18 months with the Jets, I have reluctantly asked the Club to be released from the remainder of my contract to pursue business interests in my home of Far North Queensland,” Caravella said.
“As I-ve been fortunate enough to have played professional football for 15 years, I leave this stage in my career with not only great memories, but valuable experience I can hopefully offer in my hometown of Cairns.
“While I-m not saying ‘goodbye’ to the playing the game at the highest level, at this point it feels right to take an indefinite break.
“I want to thank the Newcastle Jets – players and staff – for being incredibly understanding in my decision and wish them all the best for the upcoming season.”
Jets CEO Robbie Middleby thanked Caravella for his services during his time as a Newcastle Jets player.
“Zenon has been a fantastic contributor to the Newcastle Jets during his time at the Club,” Middleby said.
“We thank him for his efforts on and off the field and wish him all the best with the next chapter of his life.”
