Canberra United came from behind for the second straight week to snatch a 2-1 win at Newcastle Jets on Sunday.
Emily van Egmond had converted an early penalty to give the home side a 1-0 lead at the break.
But Ashleigh Sykes began Canberra’s turnaround by equalising soon after the restart, setting the stage for Toni Pressley to hit a second crucial goal in as many matches with just over 20 minutes remaining.
As well as extending their unbeaten run against Newcastle to 14 matches, the visitors’ win saw them move level on six points with the Hunter outfit and within reach of the top two.
The Jets, meanwhile, sit fifth with two wins and two defeats, although the three teams immediately below them each have a game in hand.
