Canberra United have signed Germany international Ariane Hingst for the 2012/13 Westfield W-League season.
The highly experienced defender, who played with Newcastle Jets last season, joins Jitka Klimkova’s in their title defence after their record-breaking championship.
“I am really happy about signing with Canberra United and playing yet another season in the Westfield W-League with one of the best teams,” Hingst said.
“It’s always a great challenge to be the one to be scouted and I can’t wait to bring in all my skills and experience to help win the title.
“I already have great impressions about the professional work in Canberra and after being in contact with Jitka about pre-season training, I can’t wait to finally meet the team at the end of September and get the ball rolling again.”
Hingst has 174 caps to her name, and one of the most decorated women-s footballer of all time, with two FIFA World Cup winners- medals and four European Championship winners medals.
Canberra United CEO Heather Reid was delighted to be able to bring the experienced international into the Canberra ranks.
“Securing Ariane for Canberra United underlines our intentions,” Reid said.
“To be able to add such a decorated and capable player to our ranks will bolster our already strong line-up and we look forward to seeing Ariane in green for 2012/13.”
