There were serious concerns at the club that Burns would be out for up to a month after he was stretchered from the field and looked in serious pain after copping an elbow in a collision with Central Coast-s Josh Rose.
But there was a huge sigh of relief at the club on Monday when scans showed the former Socceroos midfielder just has badly bruised ribs.
The injury will keep Burns out of the Glory’s trip to the Gold Coast this weekend.
The club’s medical staff will continue to monitor his injury with Burns a chance to return for the final regular season game against the Melbourne Victory in a fortnight.
Burns’ absence this weekend could leave the Glory short in midfield with Liam Miller still no certainty to return from injury, while Adam Hughes recently left the club to take up a deal in Asia.
